Admission Results

How admission results are published, how a candidate checks their own result, and what to do once accepted.

What appears on this page

When a round of admission closes, the list of accepted students for that round is published here as a document you can open and read: the applicant's name, the college and department they have been accepted to, and the application reference. Until a round has been decided, the page carries no list. An empty page means results are not out yet — it does not mean you were refused.

A list stays up for the round it belongs to and is replaced when the next round is decided. Save or photograph the one that concerns you rather than relying on it remaining online.

How results are published

Results are published as one list per round, not sent out one by one. That published list is the official record.

No one from the university telephones an applicant to announce a place before the list appears, and no one asks for a payment to put a name on it. If you are asked to pay anybody for a place, it is not the university asking — tell the admissions office.

Checking your result

  1. Open the list for the round you applied in.
  2. Find your application reference — the number you were given when you submitted the application. It identifies you more reliably than a name that can be spelled several ways.
  3. Read the department printed beside it. Where a second choice was considered, you may be accepted to a programme other than your first.

If your file was still incomplete when the round closed, it will not appear on the list at all. That is a document problem rather than a decision, and the office can tell you which document was missing.

If you are accepted

  • Complete registration with the Registrar's Office inside the window announced alongside the list. A place that is not registered in that window is released to someone else.
  • Bring the original of every document you submitted as a copy.
  • Settle the first instalment of the fee, or the paperwork for any reduction you have been granted.
  • Attend the induction for new students before teaching begins.

If your name is not on the list

Ask the admissions office what the file lacked before assuming the answer was no. Where a later round is opened for a programme, it is announced in the same place, on this page. You can contact the office with your reference and ask about your own file directly.
